 Help Us Create Safe and Inclusive Schools and Communities

BRIDGES Safe and Respectful Schools Program

Support local students, teachers and administrators in a comprehensive, multi-year partnership to improve school climate by reducing bullying, violence and prejudice in Orange County middle and high schools.

  • Adopt individual student leaders to participate in a year of BRIDGES on campus at your level of giving.

♦ Walk In My Shoes Youth Conference

Serve as the Title Sponsor for a day-long youth conference led by BRIDGES students for 500-600 participating diverse Orange County students and school staff who learn strategies for creating safe, inclusive school climates.

  • Send a select number of school teams of students and teachers to the conference at your level of giving.

Human Relations Ambassadors Program

Sponsor a year-long leadership experience for BRIDGES alumni to attend monthly trainings to deepen their knowledge.  These HRAP students work under the mentorship of BRIDGES staff to help plan and deliver the Walk In My Shoes conference.

 BRIDGES Summer Youth Leadership Camp

Support a week-long summer camp that unites diverse youth to develop skills in human relations, leadership, facilitation, and youth organizing, in order to lead change on their campuses in partnership with school staff, parents, and their peers.

  • Title Sponsorship currently available.  *Plus, naming opportunity for a three year commitment. 
  • Sponsor two summer office interns who prep camp.

 Hate Crime Education Program

Help us collect, track, and respond to local hate crimes.  We provide victim support and training for the community, education field, and law enforcement to increase accuracy of reporting and decrease hate-related crimes and incidents.

  • Sponsorship needed. Underwrite our annual Hate Crime Report publication and release event.
  • Fee for Service: Schedule a customized hate crime education presentation.

 Police/Community Relations

Support our partnership with law enforcement to promote community-oriented policing.  Help us assist police and community members to effectively and peacefully resolve complaints via neutral mediation. In addition to training law enforcement in recognizing and reporting hate crimes, we support them in working with diverse communities.

Support our work to develop diverse community leaders who engage in important decision-making processes with the institutions that affect their lives. Help us empower residents to address human relations issues in their communities via community dialogues, education programs, advocacy work, community capacity-building, and leadership programming.

♦ Parent Leadership Institute

Sponsor a Parent Leadership Institute, a multi-week program that develops language minority parent leaders in local schools in order to expand their participation in the educational system. Parents explore themes of parental rights, leadership, effective communication, group dynamics, and conflict resolution through this program.

 Help Us Mediate Conflict. 

♦ Dispute Resolution Program

Offer our community a positive approach to resolving conflict that utilizes dialogue as an alternative to violence and litigation via our Dispute Resolution Program. Help resolve neighbor-to-neighbor, landlord-tenant, employer-employee, child custody, divorce, and small claims cases.  We provide mediation services at low or no cost to residents.

 Mediation Training

We train and certify court, community, family law, and youth mediators, many of whom become volunteers/interns.

  • Enrollment: $375/participant in our introductory 32-hour mediation certification training. Open to the public.

Help Us Honor Community. 

♦ Annual AWARDS Gala

Honor outstanding people in schools, communities and police departments for their exemplary contributions to human relations in Orange County as title sponsor of our annual AWARDS Gala. This is an excellent way to get exposure to hundreds of event attendees.

♦ YouthSpeak Speech Contest

Sponsor an annual, county-wide youth human relations speech contest. One youth winner’s speech is featured at OC Human Relations’ annual AWARDS Gala. Participate in the selection process and the private finalist selection reception.
